Surgery

Our little monkey was rushed to the ER Sunday morning. He was screaming in pain and non responsive. After a long 24hrs they began focusing on a GI issue (intussusception). They transferred us to Strong Memorial Children's Hospital in Rochester, NY. After three bloody stools and much vomiting, Jack was diagnosed with intussusception and off for surgery. Intussusception is a blockage of the bowel.

What Is Intussusception?
Intussusception occurs when one portion of the bowel slides into the next, much like the pieces of a telescope. When this occurs, it creates an obstruction in the bowel, with the walls of the intestines pressing against one another. This, in turn, leads to swelling, inflammation, and decreased blood flow to the intestines involved.
Surgery went great. We had the best surgeon in Rochester!!! He is recovering and we will be in the hospital for 7 days. The girls are with Mimi (my mom) and are doing great. A little confused on where Jack is and why we can't bring him home. We will be bring the girls up to the hospital to see Jack. For those of you who do not know about Strong Children's hospital, it is unbelievable. One of the great things is every floor has a playroom and they have a large indoor and outdoor playground. Riley and Jocelyn can come up to see Jack and then Scott and I can spend time playing with them.
